Hey, I’m Sophie 👋
I set up Do Good Research in 2021 - and it’s just me.
It’s a great thing that more people are doing user research in teams.
But over the past few years, I’ve seen the same challenges everywhere! with research ethics, rigour and safety. This impacts the people taking part, us doing the research and ultimately the products and services we design.
Do Good Research is here to change how research is done.
We help you set up the Research Ops processes, skills and structures to do good research. We hold space for difficult conversations and sharing learnings - so more researchers are supported, organisations are prepared and our practice improves!
How does this look?
We work on projects directly with organisations like Flo Health, Homeless Link, Tesco Media, Lloyd’s Banking Group and PlayStation - conducting research with users and helping teams think in a new way about their service.
We partner with teams on their Research Operations and deliver training on common research topics such as sensitive topics, privacy and data protection and inclusive participant recruitment.
We are bringing people together who care about ethics and standards in research. If you are interested in this too, please get in touch ❤️
About me
I care about using design to make a positive impact in the world.
Since 2015, I’ve been working in design agencies, government and now freelance; carrying out research to help make services more human.
My career in user experience began at Nomensa and I’ve since worked at Department of Health and Social Care (NHSX) as their first user researcher; followed by the design studio Snook.
Causes I care about are health, women, children and young people, homelessness, dating and relationships, creativity, travel and music. When I’m not working on Do Good Research; I enjoy singing, yoga, art and massage therapy.
I’m now based in Liverpool. If you are also based in the North West - please reach out as I’d love to connect with others who work in design here too!
